President's
Summer is almost over, as I sit here writing this the students are making their way back to Cornell and all the other surrounding campus’. Where did the time go? Much has happened to our chapter this year, and more good things are on the horizon.
As I mentioned in my last newsletter our chapter will continue to grow and come November we will be holding elections for new leadership of our chapter. All offices will be open and need to be filled, President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. As many of you know our current Secretary and Test Administrator, Barbara Zimet, has moved to New York City. She will be handling our next practical exam, which will be held in January, more details to follow, however she needs to start stepping away from her secretarial duties. It will be very easy for the next person to step into this role as she has set it up to be user friendly. We greatly appreciate all she has done for us over the years and cannot thank her enough, the best gift we could give her is to have someone step up and take over.
We have started working out the arrangements for our next practical exam. The date we have chosen is January 8th 2011 with back up date of January 15th 2011. CMC Fritz Sonnenschmidt and Master Baker Noble Masi will be joining us again as our judges. The third judge is yet to be determined at this time. When looking at all involved in putting this together we have decided to limit the spaces to 6 and as soon as we know how much interest there is we will be letting the candidates who will go forward know.
I also want to take this time to welcome Chef Tom Leonard back to our chapter. Chef Tom has also brought 8 new members to our chapter! We welcome them all and look forward to their fresh and positive energy which they will bring to our chapter.
Please take the time to check out the recipe section of our website as Chef Fritz was kind enough to share some of his recipes with us!!!
Although this is a very busy time of year please know that I am always here to answer questions and help any one of you however I can. The ACF is about brotherhood and mentorship first and foremost, and that has always been an underlying passion and direction of this chapter. I know that we all lose sight of this from time to time, it will always be the guiding force behind our chapter.
I look forward to see many of you at our meeting on September 27th where we will kick off a new and exciting time for our chapter. Questions, comments……. Contact me at sm107@cornell.edu or Barbara at barbarazimet@yahoo.com
